Happy Birthday Tata Mandela

Johannesburg - Children in public schools will raise their voices in song for former president Nelson Mandela on his birthday, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said on Tuesday.

"We appeal to all South Africans to join them," she said.

At 08:05 on Monday, school pupils will raise the national flag, sing the national anthem and watch a brief presentation on Mandela before singing happy birthday to him.

"There will be no disruptions. Learning will start by 08:15," Motshekga said.

On Mandela Day, which is celebrated on his birthday, all South Africans are asked to devote 67 minutes of their time and resources to do good for others.
